Bush Symphony - Painted
Bush Symphony is a synergy of contemporary painting fused with object, textile and mixed media in stunning compositions and assemblage on canvas. Inspired by a my studio in the bush at Blackhorse Creek NNSW the series reflects on the sounds, textures and visual delights that this beautiful place has offered. 'As I settled in to this retreat expecting peace, quiet and solitiude, I saw that I had underestimated my place, it was alive with sound and colour, movement and texture that was so vivid and endearing that I was compelled to serve it up respectfully in this collection of abstract compositions.' The series 'Bush Symphony' playfully combines media with the assemblage of found and bush materials on painted grounds with textile and weaving. I am concerned with memory references often using the object as a tool to reflect or remember time and place. I see objects as a catalyst that presented in contemporary context, can provoke rich narrative, rouse memory and transport us to another place.
